At the Belize Zoo, you’ll come face to face with some of Belize’s most incredible native animals and birds. This unique zoo is home to wildlife that has been rescued or protected, allowing visitors to experience the country’s biodiversity up close. You’ll have the chance to see the vibrant Keel-Billed Toucan, Belize’s national bird, famous for its colorful beak and striking beauty in the rainforest. You’ll also meet the Tapir, Belize’s national animal and one of the largest land mammals found in the jungle.
As you explore the zoo’s natural trails, you’ll discover many other fascinating species native to Belize, making this a memorable experience for anyone who loves wildlife, nature, and adventure.
Next, you’ll travel to the village of Hattieville, where the excitement continues. Here you’ll climb into a rugged Jeep Wrangler and head out on a thrilling off-road ride through jungle trails toward Gracy Rock in the Maya Mountains. During the rainy season, the trails can become muddy, adding even more fun to the adventure.
Along the way, you’ll stop at a hidden dry cave system where, with helmets and lights, you can explore fascinating stalactites, natural rock formations, and even fragments of ancient pottery. Guests who prefer may relax nearby and skip the cave portion.
The journey then continues to Freetown Sibun, where a delicious Belizean lunch awaits, featuring rice and beans, stew chicken, fried plantains, and potato salad.
After a day filled with adventure, you’ll return comfortably to the port with plenty of time before your ship’s departure.
